The five songs below relate to Shion's character and how it develops through the novels.

Lifeboat by Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy
No.6 has little tolerance for those who are different. Though Shion lives as an elite due to being advanced in school, his title is immediately stripped once he showed empathy for an criminal. The "people [he] knows" all portray being model citizens, but some are waiting to for someone to "say the wrong thing" so they can report them for being disloyal. |
Dangerous by Big Data
Shion has been recorded saying the he doubted No.6 right before the mysterious death of his coworker. Though none called the police (Shion passed out), they show up to the scene. There was no way for them to know, except that they were spying on Shion. The police get a warrant to arrest Shion and as they are taking him to the correctional facility, Nezumi saves him. Nezumi, the criminal Shion had shown empathy for, knew Shion would be used as scapegoat for the unexplained deaths occurring in the city. Nezumi helps Shion escape the city and live with him in West Block. |

Lemon Boy by Cave Town
The first time Shion met Nezumi happened when they were both 12 years old. Nezumi, an escaped criminal, snuck into Shion's room for help with his wounds. Shion did not care about his status or the threats Nezumi made towards him. Nezumi's bitter personality never bothered Shion. The second time Shion meets Nezumi, he hasn't changed at all. Naive as ever, Shion ignores Nezumi's terrible personality and decides that he'll love him no matter what. Like in the song, the friends Shion gets all despise Nezumi. |
LOVE ME LOVE ME LOVE ME by Kikuo
By the end of the novel, Shion has turned insane. All he can think of is Nezumi and would die if anything happened to him. During their infiltration of the correctional facility, Shion kills someone for the first time. This was to protect Nezumi, however afterwards he acts extremely odd and scares Nezumi. He doesn't register he just killed someone. He acts like the sweet boy he was in the beginning of the novel and frets over Nezumi's injures. The "curse" Shion has is that he needs Nezumi. It isn't people Shion needs, just Nezumi. After leaving the correctional facility, Nezumi leaves Shion. Shion's life is agonizing afterwards, the "collar" never goes away. No.6 is torn down after Nezumi leaves and Shion is apart of a committee in charge of rebuilding the government. Shion pretends to friends with many people to get his way and be on top. Nobody is enough for Shion and all other people are trash compared to Nezumi. |

Cotton Candy By Creep-P
Nezumi left Shion with a kiss and a promise for reunion. Similar to cotton candy, Nezumi was sweet until he disappeared. Even though Shion lives a perfect life again with his mother, Shion can't get over Nezumi. He won't loose hope that Nezumi will come back and find him. It is unlikely Nezumi will return to him, Nezumi turned into a coward and couldn't deal with the demon Shion became when they destroyed the correctional facility. |
